Diamonds are pure, crystalized carbon.

We simply take the same carbon left within your beloved’s ashes or fur, and artificially create the conditions for it to blossom into a beautiful diamond.

The First Step: Send A Bit Of Their Hair, Fur or Ashes

We don’t need much to begin the process—60g of ashes or 4g of fur (or a combination).

Once you make your order, we’ll send you a Welcome Kit complete with everything you need to securely send us your pet’s ashes or fur (including a prepaid label for easy return).

Next Step: A Beautiful Transformation

STEP 1

Carbon Extraction

Through a combination of chemical and high-temperature treatments, we extract and purify the carbon we need to begin the process. The final result is a fine, black powder.

STEP 2

Diamond Growth

Ossu is the first memorial diamond company to specialize in chemical vapour deposition, or CVD. Because CVD grows diamonds from carbon in gas form, we use a proprietary process to convert your beloved’s purified carbon into a carbon-rich gas (methane) before introducing it into a sealed chamber with a diamond seed. Microwave plasma then releases carbon atoms from the gas, allowing them to crystallize layer by layer until your diamond forms.

Throughout the journey, you’ll get regular updates from our team, so you’re never left wondering what’s happening with your loved one 😊

STEP 3

Cutting & Polishing

Every diamond initially comes out as an unsuspecting cube. We meticulously cut and polish this cube to reveal the sparkle hiding inside, in the exact shape you’ve chosen.

Your finished diamond is sent to the International Gemological Institute (IGI) for independent grading of its carat, colour, clarity, and cut. This confirms it is a real lab-grown diamond, not glass, resin, or an ash-filled keepsake. This service is complimentary.

STEP 4

Jewelry Setting

Our skilled jewelers get to work, handcrafting your bespoke solid 18K gold jewelry setting of choice. All jewelry is made to order, meaning yours is crafted just for you, and you alone.

STEP 5

Return Home

It’s time for your beloved to come back to you! We’ll pop some champagne and celebrate their momentous return right along with you 🥂
