A memorial diamond is a diamond (yes, an actual diamond) grown from hair, fur, or ashes.
Carbon is the building block of life. We’re all made of it, and so are diamonds. We simply recreate the way they naturally form in our lab, using your beloved’s carbon as the source.
Once you place an order with us, you'll receive your very own kit complete with everything you need and guided instructions to send us the 60 grams of ashes or 4 grams of hair needed to grow your beloved's diamond.
All diamonds come from carbon. And so do we! Hair contains roughly 51% carbon, with ashes containing 0.5% to 4%. We meticulously isolate and extract the carbon from the sample you send us to form the foundation of your diamond.
We use chemical vapour deposition (CVD) to grow our diamonds. This process allows us to grow higher quality diamonds faster, more consistently, and with less resources than typical methods. Due to the nature of their origin, we grow each diamond individually (unlike ordinary lab diamonds, which are mass-produced). Once it's all done, we'll send the final piece back home.
Your pet’s carbon is only part of the story. Even after purification, trace elements and subtle chemical signatures remain, including nitrogen and tiny imperfections that help shape the diamond’s final shade.
Like a well-aged whisky, hues of rich cognac, pale champagne, and even clear crystal form depending on the unique chemistry of your beloved.
We honour this aspect of the process by not adding artificial elements or radiation to force colour.
(That being said, if you prefer the classic look, we also offer the option to have the diamond come out in the colourless range.)
