Ashes contain roughly 0.5-4% carbon. While it's true a lot is burned during the cremation process, there's still traces left in bone mineral as carbonates. Hair or fur is made of keratin, which contains about 50%.

Diamonds are pure carbon.

So we asked a simple question: what if we used the same carbon within hair, fur, or ashes, to grow a diamond?

All our diamonds are certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI), one of the world's largest independent laboratories for grading and certifying diamonds, coloured stones, and jewelry.

Tracked Throughout The Process

From the moment we receive your sample, it’s securely labeled and tracked with a unique identification system.

Every step of the process is documented, ensuring that the exact carbon from your loved one is used in the creation of the diamond.

This means unlike with cheap, mass-produced lab diamonds, the nature of our process requires us to grow each diamond one by one, and meticulously ensure we get it right in one attempt.

A Natural Colour Co-Signed By Them

Your pet’s carbon is only part of the story. Even after purification, other trace elements, minerals, and subtle chemical signatures remain and influence how the final diamond forms.

Most prominently, nitrogen and microscopic defects from the biological source shape its colour.

Like a well-aged whisky, hues of rich cognac, pale champagne, and even clear crystal form depending on the unique chemistry of your beloved.

We honour this aspect of the process by not adding artificial elements or radiation to force colour.

(That being said, if you prefer the classic look, we also offer the option to have the diamond come out in the colourless range.)

I did a lot of research since I was considering a memorial diamond and by chance, Ossu came up. The more I learned the company, the more it resonated with what I wanted. A diamond that had the hue of the original carbon content. The other companies were only offering colored diamonds which didn't seem natural to me and also at two times the cost.

I love that you can use both fur and ashes and at the time, the selection was smaller but the jewelry options were dainty and delicate as I prefer that look.

I wanted to support a Canadian owned business and what made it even better for me was that I was also supporting an AAPI business.
